Last Weekend

Whiskered Tern at Frampton Sailing Lake.

Twigs and Leaves

Just had to go and see the Collared Flycatcher at Portland yesterday. When on site the main point was to get a photograph of it with lots of twigs and leaves in the way.I Think i managed the task OK.

Whilst down there we had to go and see this.It would have been rude not to.

Seabird Spectacular

With a SSW wind blowing, more South than South West a Seawatch at the cliff of Golden delights were in order. Both sat comfortably at the end of the point with scopes scanning the rising tide with not much going on.10 Minutes Nothing,20 Minutes 1 Racing Pigeon,30 Minutes Nothing,40 Minutes a Small distant wader down,50 Minutes still Nothing then on the stroke of 1 Hour a Great Crested Grebe up.The next 20 minutes or so made up for it. 2 Fulmars down and 5 yes 5 Arctic Skuas up,4 Dark Phase and 1 Light Phase. So with the Arctics tucked safely in the bottom of the bag and the sun going down over the cliff the decision was made to call it a day.

Cornwalls

Spent the weekend in Cornwall on a family break with a couple of early mornings birding thrown in.Highlights being a few Cattle Egrets at Drift and an Iceland and Glaucous Gull at Newlyn.Never drive home on a bank holiday Monday-6 hours and ten whole minutes of pure driving pleasure.Back home i missed Wood Warbler at Uskmouth(visit http://www.gwentbirding.blogspot.com/ for a recording) but picked up Whitethroat(get In There) and the Short Eared Owl still about at Goldcliff.
