Leucistic Lapwing

Saturday 23rd And Sunday 24th
Spent the weekend dodging showers at Goytre House Wood and Goldcliff.
At goytre birds of note were spotted flycatchers GS woodpecker and green woodpecker. At goldcliff the leucistic lawpwing was the highlight also quiet a few redshanks about. Also some greylags outside the entrance to Llanwern steelworks.Seeing as on the bird front it is so quiet at the moment Ive started a new butterfly list with a marbled white being the first.Seen plenty of others but just before i could take a picture to id when i got home they would fly off . Don't know weather that picture is a tornado or just some sort of strange cloud formation.

Red Necked Phalarope

Headed up to Upton Warren NR early this morning hoping that it wouldn't have disappeared overnight. But it had just like the Red backed shrike,White tailed plover had in the last 8 days.Think i will have to give birds beginning with a colour and 3 words long a miss from now on.
Anyway looked like a good reserve with good close views of the other birds there.

Ynysyfro Res

I decided to pay ynysyfro res a visit as Ive not visited here for quite some time.Just the usual ducks and geese on the res but had two spotted flycatchers on the outskirts of the woods.Still haven't got over Saturday yet.
