Quite Weekend

Not much happened on the weekend the only interesting sightings came in the form of a Swallow and a SpotRed at peterstone and a Goldeneye at Ynysyfro.Did visit some mountain above Pontypool in the gale force NE winds looking for a Snow Bunting but didn't walk far enough and ended up looking in the wrong Place.Outcome Snow Bunting not on the year List.Anyway here's a pic of the folly tower with Llandegfedd res in the backround.Might be able to do the gull roost from here as Llandegfedd gates will shut a 4pm this winter.

Leaving Gwent

A quiet couple of weeks recently bird wise but Ive been out a few times still looking for a Gwent YB Warbler.Went down to Ogmore on Friday for the Red Necked Phal but it had moved on overnight. Also watched a small flock of bearded tits at uskmouth fly up until out of view and then come back down again. The last time they went up two birds broke off and flew straight over towards the grasslands and out of view.Don't know weather anybody has witnessed this behaviour before but it certainly looked like they were testing the water before moving off.

No 3-Checked out Dunlop semtex Pond ant Llandegfedd for the Whooper Swan that was reported the night before.Dip Number Three. No sign either of the female type Scaup at Llandegfedd.Osytercatcher flying around the res tho.(looks like the whooper flew straight over to Ogmore Estuary)
No 4-Bingo,Walked into the heather on the Blorange for two and a half minutes, put up a Red grouse, watched it fly over the hillside and then walked two and a half minutes back to the van.Easiest tick ever.
